Coins in the series
About the series
“Slavic Bestiary” is a series of silver coins from Mennica Gdańska (the Gdańsk Mint) devoted to mythical creatures of Slavic folklore: the Rusalka, the Domovoy, Alkonost, the Drowned Man (Utopiec) and Likho. The face value is issued in the name of the Republic of Cameroon, while the mint itself is Polish. Each creature appears in several weights — 1, 2 and 3 ounces of silver — and the designs are built on images from folk tradition.
The series has been issued since 2021: the Rusalka came first (December 2021), followed by the Domovoy (2022), Alkonost (2024) and the Drowned Man (2025); Likho (2026) is the latest addition. The coins share one approach: each is devoted not to an abstract “beast” but to a character with a role of its own in folk belief — from the guardian of the home to the bird of omens and the forest misfortune.
