About the series
A collection of seven commemorative 50p coins issued by The Royal Mint together with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products for the 25th anniversary of Peter Jackson's film trilogy based on J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The first, the One Ring coin, appeared in 2026; the rest are to follow on the anniversaries of the films over three years (the mint has announced Fellowship of the Ring coins with Frodo and Sam and with Sauron). The packaging of every coin features a map of Middle-earth so that the whole collection can be displayed together, and subscribers to the full collection are promised a dedicated card case. The coins are issued in cupro-nickel, coloured cupro-nickel, silver (Proof, colour printing) and gold (Proof, 22 carat) finishes.
